Always the observer, never the centerpiece. Prefers taking photos over being in them.
“I used to think home was a place. Then I thought it was a person. Now I think it’s just a moment you don’t realize is important until it’s gone.”

They say some lives begin with the ordinary, while others are born with the soul of a story. February 8, 1998, marked the arrival of a boy in Bruges, a city where the past lingers in every canal and golden light drapes over medieval facades. From the very start, Lorcan Malcairn was drawn to the quiet poetry of the world to capturing the fleeting, the overlooked, the unspoken.
But some stories are meant to wander. Years later, Lorcan found himself thousands of miles away, settled in Indonesia. Yet, in its people, its landscapes, and its unfiltered energy, he discovered a new muse. His camera, once trained on the old-world romance of Europe, now sought out the raw, beating pulse of a land so different yet equally rich in stories.
Today, Lorcan continues his journey, weaving narratives through his lens, turning everyday encounters into timeless fragments of memory. From the misty highlands to the neon-lit streets, he captures Indonesia in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally felt. Proof that no matter where he stands, his eyes will always find the poetry in the world.
